What plans does the NZBC have for the establishment of television transrnitting facilities to serve the central North Island region? An NZBC spokesman in Wellington said that a team of seven engineers and technicians was at present carrying out an extensive topographical survey of the region, ineluding Taupo, as a preliminary step to-' wards the selection of suitable sites on which to set up such facilities. "In the meantime, viewers served by those private translators which carry AKTV-2's programmes via the repeater station on Mt Te Aroha to the various j central North Island distriets . can expect improvement in reception when the 100 kw. installations on Mt Te Aroha — to replace the existing lkw equipment there - — are completed later j in the year."
