Sunday, and from 6 to 7.30 p.m. on Saturdays. These hours will be extended as local support for the station grows. The official opening will be on Saturday at 6 p.m., and this will be broadcast on the station wave-length — 1500 kc. The opening will be followed by a reception in the Taupo-nui-a-Tia Memorial Hall. Whistling Owners of some radio i . sets will notice that when Station 1ZA is transmitting, a whistling sound is heard in the region of Station 2YA, Wellington. A spokesman for the I NZBC commented as follows: —

"There is a possibility of interference on 2YA's frequency of 570 kc when 1ZA is transmitting. This interference will apply mainly to the older type of receiver not complying with modern receiver standards. It could also apply to modern sets needing re-alignment." A feature recognising the opening of 1ZA appears on pages 9 to 13 of this issue.
