GRACE CUP RETAINED BY BAY OF PLENTY

Sunday's clash between Hawke's Bay and Bay of Plenty Maori teams was for the Arthnr Grace Challenge Cnp. The Grace Cup was donated by Mr T. Arthur Grace, of Taupo, ex N.Z. Maori All

Black and Bay of Plenty representative, past president and a life member of the Taupo Rugby Football sub-Union. It is for annual competition betwreen the Bay of Plenty Maori Rugby representatives and the Hawke's Bay Maori representatives. The first match for this trophy was played as a cur-tain-raiser to the match be- 1 tween Hawke's Bay provin- 1 cial representatives and ! England at Napier in 1963 and was won by the Bay j of Plenty Maoris, who j again won and held the j trophy last year. The event is an annual j one to be played home and ! away, regardless of who holds the cup, the object being to create and foster j better relations between the Maori players of the two unions.
