Many Gave Their Best For Red
Cross Show
The number of Taupo people who were willing to give of their best in the name of the Red Cross was obvious last night in the Dorothy Small production of "Musicale." Just about everyone in the town who could sing dance, play an instrument or crack a joke was onstage. It would be difficult to pick and choose among the acts because they were all so different. "The Mag
ician," as a spoof on menta'j telepathy, was well carried off by M. Gillespie and F ! Leonard. This had a sur prise ending that made the act. For tension, "Sorry Wrong Number," played by Jean Davis, certainly had the audienee on the edge of their seats. The people in the hall learnt that a woman being murdered ir her bed can really scream. Costumes were wel1 thought out for the acts and the scenery was subtle and cleverly-painted. On the more serious side of the evening's entertain* ment the Nun's Chorus with a female choir and Maureen Potter as soloist gave the audienee a satisfying example of a favourite aria. Funds from the three nights of the show will be donated by Taupo Red Cross to the flood relief fund in East Pakistan. The final performance will be
presented tonight.—
