ROOTES CAR "IN TO WIN"

A Sunbeam Tiger and two Sunbeam Alpines scored outstanding successes at the Danville Virginia National Races in the U.S.A. recently. The Tiger, driven by Don Sesslar, won its class and finished second overall. After a race-long duel with cars of greater capacity, Sesslar missed outright victory by only three seconds and broke the class lap record by four seconds. Sesslar, who won the Sports Car Club of America's national Class F championships last year in a Sunbeam Alpine, declared that this had been the most exciting race in his career. At the same meeting, Dan Carmichael drove his Sunbeam Alpine into first j place in Class F, finishingj second overall in this race. j He broke the class lap record on every lap. Another j Alpine driven by A1 Coftner finished third in the class. These events were the first of 34 scheduled entries in American racing by Rootes Motors Inc.
