UNSOLD BOOK PROBLEM
What to do with 900 bouhd copies and 2,000 unbound copies of the "History of the Matamata Plains," remaining iinsold was considered at tlie last meeting of tlie Matamata Oounty Council. Tlie council incurred a loss over the puhlication of the hook in 1950. The loss has since been written off. Tlie hooks are stored at tlie council offices at Tirau, "Tliey take up a lot of room and you would need a hlock and tackle to move them," the clerk, Mr J. A. Beek, said at Thursday's meeting. He also queried tlie effect of tlie weight of tlie hooks on tlie lloor. Mr Beck said that since puhlication ahout 1,000 bound copies had been sold. Lately the puhlisliers had received a few inquiries for unbound copies. The chairman, Mr I. K. Wood, suggested tliat up to 100 bound copies sliould he given to the 40 scliools in tlie eoiuity and the council agreed. An inquiry will he made ahout donnations of copies of tlie hook to public lihraries.
