Golfer's Duck
Perth golfer Warren Smith had poultry for dinner unexpectedly when he returned after a social game on the municipal links at Wembley, four miles from the city, with a fat mountain duck. The bird was in flight when he struck it with a wood shot on the 13th fairway. The duck dropped like a stone and was promptly secured by the surprised golfer, who regarded it as fair game, even if not brought down in the approved manner.
