TAUPO DOWN TO TAUMARUNUI AT BASKETBALL

After holding the Fenton Cup for the past two basketball seasons, Taupo A went down to Taumarunui A by 14-11 last Saturday. In the first half of the game Taumarunui A managed to score after their 14th attempt. With continued inaccurate goaling they were trailing three to Taupo's five. Their play was sueprior in all t birds except the centre, where P. Livesey, L. Walker and K. Reid for Taupo held their own. The scores, 10 minutes before time, were 11-all, with Taumarunui visibly putting on pressure and Taupo wilting under the impact. The end of the game found Taumarunui A victorious. For Taupo A, A. 31orehu, P. Kohika and tlie three centres already mentioned, played well. VISITORS TOO STRONG Taumarunui B proved too strong for Taupo B. They were constantly on the attack and their forwards made no mistake with their goals. D. Balmforth and E. Rewa In Taupo's centre tliird repeatedly made saves for their team, only to bo thwarted by the efficient trio in the Taumarunui defence area. Taumarunui B won by 17-10. Results of the games played against Ohura : Taupo A 23, Ohura A 8 ; Taupo B 23, Ohura B 5. The Taupo B association will be holding their field day on Saturday. August 17.
