PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS DAY
Teams at the primar.v school sports held on July 25 came from Waitahanui, Oruanui, Maroa and Atiamuri. There were five from Taupo. Basketball : Though time did not permit completion of the draw, every team was given a game, Taupo A being tlie only oue to win tlie two games it piayed. Many players proved themselves, in particular Colleen Martin (Atiamuri), Mary Wikiriwlii (Waitahanui), Susan Hahib (Oruanui), Dinati Lewis, Noleen Crowther and Ngahuia Williams, of Tauxio. From tliese teams will he pickeii trialists for a Taupo iirimary schools representative team Rugby : Games were played in senlor and junior sections. The concluding game was played as visiting schools v Taupo. Hue to some good running by M. Chase, M. Samuels, J. Rakatau and B. Thomson, Taupo put up a big score in the first half, but in the second the combined team began to use its weight in the scrum. The best players on tliis side seerned to be L. Karaitiaua, L. Hay, B, Simon, M. Simon, and B. Seymour, the sinai! full-back.
