In a match for senior reserve teams Eastern Bay of Plenty defeated Putaruru by 14 goals to four. In a junior match, Putaruru versus Tokoroa, the result was a draw, two goals all. Next Saturday Putaruru will play Auckland representative teams at Glenshea Park.

There was no let up in the senior grade match. For Putaruru, R. Trail, a forward, struck form and was a tower of strength against the consistent Eastern Bay defence, P. South and F. Rogers. Putaruru's combination was quite good throughout, but in the centre passes were poor and should have been better for experienced players. At half-tirne Eastern Bay of Plenty led by five goals to four and when play started for the second half both teams were really "on the ball." Excitement mounted as tirne drew near and the scores even. The Putaruru forwards worked hard. The Bay of Plenty defence cracked in front of a clever Putaruru move. B. McFarlane eame in front of her partner, dodged free, received a good pass from M. Tait and threw a good goal. Putaruru 8, Eastern Bay of Plenty 7. Urged on by thrilled supporters, Putaruru worked well in all quarters, particularly in the defence, where C. Tahana and T. Te Tomo intercepted frequently. By their efforts the final score was brought to Putaruru •&, Eatetern Bay of Plenty 8. Reserve Teams For this match weather conditions were very difficult. Eastern Bay of Plenty had the advantage of experience and this enabled the side to win by 14 goals to four.

For Putaruru, D. Billinghurst in the defence was outstanding. She intercepted well and directed her passes with care. Juniors Show Promise Putaruru and Tokoroa juniors playecl well and there were some promising players in the teams. For Tokoroa, E. Papaha and R. Pahana wero excellent and only the strdng wind prevented E. Tyre from scoring several goals. Nexf Saturday 's Games The main Putaruru versus Auckland game will start at 2.30 p.m. Mrs P. G.
