tlnder the headiog "Tariff Iteform" in the electricity committee's report on the borough coimcil agenda, appeared this recommendation: "That the domestic rate be rccluced from the first 120 units at 4d to the first 120 units at 3.5d." The name of the mayor, Mr J. E. Story, was attached to the recommendation. The council approved it. Cr J. M. Stanley, who is chairnian of the committee, said at the council meeting: "I think this is quite a major concession to the people." In reply to a question the town clerk, Mr K. G. Winton, said: "By the time we carry out the necessary advertising, the new tariff will probably become efTective from September 1."
