WAIRAKEI MEN ANSWER CALL FOR BLOOD
BLOOD which may save a life was given readily by 26 voliuiteers at International Contractors camp surgery at Wairakei recently, and on August 8 another group will be bled to contribute to the Woodbank at Rotorua Publie Hospital, under the supervision of Mr G. R. George, bacteriologist. When the hospital told the blooddpuors group at Taupo that the bank was getting low, an appeal was posted on the camp notice-board. Within an hour 40 men had offered a pint of blood each. , That afternoon Mesdames A. A. Booth and J. E. Bootli (the last-men-
tioned is secretary to the unit) went out to the surgery at Wairakei and set up the equipment. That night the first 26 vol.unteers were bled. The remainder, together witli others who liave since added their names, will naike their contributions wlien Mr George and his assistants revisit the doctor's surgery in a fortnighFs time. Mrs J. E. Booth tohi the Times this week that the blood-donors group here is grateful to the men at Wairakei camp for their overwhelming response to the recent appeal. The hl ood was typed at the Rotorua Public Hospital the following day.
