Radio Coverage For Swimmers

Mrs J. Storey, Tuwharetoa Street, who operates the Taupo Commercial Launch Owners' radio base station, had a busy day on Sunday, January 29, when she was in constant radio contact with the launches Victory and Moanaroa, accompanying the swimmers Miss Margaret Sweeney and Mr Roger McMahon respectively. Reports as to the swimmers' progress were received and telephoned on to Station 1YZ, Rotorua, whence they were broadcast.
