MAGISTRATE REFRAINS FROM FINING

In three fishing cases, instituted by the Department of Internal Affairs, and which came before the Magistrate's Court at Taupo on January 26, the Magistrate, Mr W. A. Harlow, intimated that an order to pay the usual Court costs of £1 would sufiiciently meet the merits of the cases Accordingly he did not infiict any fines. The defendants were Rene Grace Ganforth, Zeta Joan Lawrence and Arthur Norman Garforth, each of whom was charged with fishing on October 24 at Tauranga-taupo by using a material attached to the line so as to increase the rate of sinking. Evidence given by Ranger Biddle showed that he found defendants, who were fly-fishing, eaoh hadasma*. j swivel attached ahead of the fly.
