When a case involving the poaching of trout at Whangamata Bay was be ing heard in the Taupo Court recently it was found that a ^aff, which had been found near the scene of the illegal fishing activity and had been b rough t to the Court on the previous sitting day, was missing. The case had been ad^ourned on the previous occasion. On Oonstable Mills sm:lingly denying knowing knowledge of the illegal weapon's whereabouts, che Magistrate asked Mr Sharkey, Clerx of Court, what he had been doing with it. On the laughter subsiding. the difliculty was overcome hy Oonstable Millls giving evidence describing the missing gaff.
