Alan Watson, son of Mr and Mrs G. R. Watson, of Taupo, was successful in passing the recent Matriculation Examination. He has been a pupil of the Napier Boys' Hign School. The departure of Dr and Mrs J. S. Armstrong for Britain was unexpectedly delayed, owing to alteration of the sailing date of the m.v. Empire Star. Dr and Mrs Armstrong left Taupo on Sunday morning last, en r-oute to join the ship at Lyttelton. Advice received shortly before their departure indicated that the ship would prPbaibly proceed from Lyttelton to Gisborne before leaving for Home. Two memtbers of the Taupo District High School Gadet Unit, Cadets P. Dixon and K. Ghristensen, have recently completed an N.C.O.'s course at Papakura Military Camp.
