In a report to the Borough Council's meeting on Wednesday, November 16, the building inspector, Mr Chas. C. I Webb, referred to an application for a building permit, received from Messrs Reid and Clark, for a temporary structure on their section in Horomatangi Street. Mr Webb stated that the structure was to be a temporary shelter for protecting workmen while they were engaged in pre-fabricating certain buildings on contract for the Ministry of Works. The situation was in the briek area, and unless otherwise authorised by the Council the structure must be in permanent materials. 1-Ie recommended that any permission granted for erection of the shelter should be subject to completion of a bond and agreement by the applicants, under which the whole of the structure must be removed within 18 nionths frqin Ihe date of granting of Ihe permit. The amount suggested for the bond for satisfactory pert'orinance of the agreement was £300. On the raotion of Or C. J. Vedder, seconded by Cr K. E. Young, it was decided to grant the application on the terms mentioned.
