F. G. OBORN, Commissioner of Inland Revenue. PROPOSED ALTERATION OF BOUNDARIES — COUNTIES OF TAUMARUNUI AND TAUPO It is hereby notified that the Local Government Commission has decided not to proceed with a proposal that the area described hereunder be excluded from the County of Taupo and included in the County of Taumarunui : "All that area in the Wellington i * o and Auckland Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at a point at the mouth of the Waihi Stream, thence easterly along the shore of Lake Taupo to the mouth of the Hinemaiai Stream, thence southerly along a right line to Ahipaepae trig station, thence westerl.y along a right line to the Tongariro trig station and generallv north-easterly by the boundary of the Taumarunui County to the point of commencement." This proposal was made to the Commission by the Taumarunui County Council following the presentation of a petition addressed to that Council and to the "Aministrator," Taupo County, and signed by 223 residents or property owners in the area concerned. The Taupo County Commissioner formally expressed disagreement with the proposal, and accordingly the Commission convened a joint meeting of the Taumarunui County Council and the Taupo County Commissioner to discuss the proposal as provided by section 16 (2) of the Local Government Commission Act 1953. At this meeting the two local authorities reached agreement that the alteration of boundaries should not be made. With this decision the Commission concurs for it has had regard to the fact that as recently as last year the Counties Act 1920 was brought into force in the County of Taupo, and that Parliament at the time presumably gave due regard to the existing boundaries of the county. Accordingly the Commission has formally declined to proceed with the proposal — W. A. Bryan. Secretary, > Local Government Commission, P.O. j Box 8030, Welington. i
