LABOUR WEEKEND GOLF TOURNAMENT

There was a record number of entries for the Taupo Golf Club's annual Labour Weekend Tournament played on Sunday, October 2o. A strong" wind made conditions difficult and high scoring was the order of the day. The best senior gross score was that of E. Smith, who carded a 79 in the morning and an 80 in the afternoon to give him a total of lo9. F. D. Stretton was an easy winner of the J u n i 0 r G r o s s w i t h ro u n d s o f S o c n d 89. Winners of other events were : Senior net, E. M. Irving; Senior bogey, J. B. Thomas ; Senior Stableford, G. Thomas; Senior long drive, A. Graham; Senior approaching, G. Thomas; Junior net, M. Hema; Junior bogey, P. Dickinson; Junior Stableford,* G. F. Knuckey; Junior long drive, J. Williams; Junior approaching, J. Ennor ; Teams match, F. D. Stretton, P. Dickinson. H. Kobald and L. A. Smith; Mixed fourball bogey, lst Mrs Sullivan and W. H. Thomas; 2nd, Mr and Mrs G. F. Knuckey. Ladies' long drive, Mrs K. E. Young; Ladies' approaching, Mrs Fearn. Tomorrow, Saturday, October 29; the finals of the Club championships are to be played. E. M. Smith and G. W. Foote meet in the Senior, and G. Thomas and G. Sutherland in the Junior.
