NEW PRESBYTERIAN MANSE

Tlie new manse recently built for the Presbyterian Parish of St. Paul's, Taupo, situated on the north side of Wheretia .Street, facing the Lake and mountains, was dedicated by the Moderator of the Bay of Plenty Presbytery, the Rev. J. A. Parks, M.A., on Tuesday afternoon, October 11. There was a representative gathering of members of the Ghurcli, and friends, including members of both the Bay of Plentv Preshytery and the P i " es b y te r i a n \V o m e n ' s M i ss i o n a r y Union, the Rev. E. P. Bush, niinister of St. Paul's, and the Rev. A. J. E. Orange, of the Maori Mission. The Mayor and Mavoress, Mr and Mrs J. L. Story, were among those present. Following the singing of the hymn, "Praise My Soul the King of Heaven," the Moderator led the opeuing prayer, and the Yery Rev. J. G. Laughton, G.M.G., a pasi Moderator of the Presbyterian Churoii of New Zealand, and formerly in charge of Ihe Presbyterian Maori Mission at Taupo, read the lesson (tirst Ghronicl.es, Chap. 17, vs. 16-27). The Rev. A. Salmond, M.A., preached from Psalm 121, v.l, "I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from whenee cometh my help," and pointed c.ut that the manse, the horne of the minlster, was also in a sense tlie iiome of t liu congregation. To it: came many to discuss and arrange with their minisler some of Ihe niost impoi'fant events in tlieir lives, and many, too, would come for spiritual guidance and help. This day of dedication was also a day of remembrance of those who had gone before in the Church's work in Taupo. They thanked Ihe Maori Mission for providing the land, the oflice bearers for tlieir planning, and the huilders of the liouse for their faithful work. The Moderator then offered tlie prayer of dedication, after which Mrs A. H. McGregor sang "Bless This House." The Clerk of Presbytery, the Rev. ,J. TI. Starnes, presented apologies for absence from the Rev. Father J. de Bree and the Rev. H. Tangohau, and the Moderator extended a welcome to Mr G. J. Mackay, representing the Brethren Assembly. At the invitation of the Moderator, the Mayor then spoke briefly, congratulating the Ghurcli on the ereet:on of the manse, and referring to the Church's constant work and teaching. Following the benedietion, pronounced by ihe Moderator, the new building was open for inspection. It is an attraotively designed and welllii dwelling. consisting of tliree hedrooms, lounge, dining-room, kitchen, and study, with all conveniences. It was built by Messrs Rickard and Armstrong.
