QUOTATION FOR SPORTS GROUND WATERING EQUIPMENT ACCEPTED
At a special meeting held on Thurs- - day, October 13, the Borough Council considered four quotations received for irrigation equipment for the recently laid down Sports Ground. Mr C. A. Acres was in attendance, representing various sports bodies. The quotation submitted by Messrs D. McL. Wallace, Ltd., £5S4 7s, was accepted. The other quotations received were . respectively £60S, £673 and £897. The quotation accepted covers all plant and equipment, and installation, with the exception that the Council is to lay down the foundation for the pumping unit and to dig the trench for the pipeline from the river to the boundary of the ground. The plant will work at a pressure of 221bs, providing' eighty gallons of .water per minute from the Waikato River, and will be able^ to apply' the equivalent of one inch of rain over the whole sports area in 24 spraying - hours, or three' ordinary working days. It would thus be possible, if required, to apply two inches of water in a week. The plant includes a two-inch twostage pump, and 10 h.p. electric motor ; .80ft of three-inch galvanised pipe and 169ft of three-inch fibrolite pipe; seven three-inch by 24ft spray lines; and all fittings and connections.
