ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE NOTES
For the first time the Taupo St. John Ambulance Brigacle sent a junior cadet team to take part in the South Auckland St. John Ambulance Cadet Competitions, held at Hamilton on Saturday, October 1. The team was as follows: — No. 1, J. Calkin (leader) ; No. 2, R. Drummond; No. 3, J. Robertson; No. 4, lan Kennedy; patient, D. Loughlin; e.mergency D. Willis. The team, vvhich was accompanied by their superintendent, R. Young, formerly of Matamata, and Sergeant A. Reading, made an excellent showing, coming second in the Waikato Shield contest for cadets under 15 years, with 120 points, four only less than the winning team. The judges stated that the team worked well as a team, No. 1 having good control. In the individual oial test Taupo's No. 4, lan Kennedy, was the only cadet in the competition to gain possible marks of ten out of ten. J. Calkin was complimented on his leadership and the other members on efficiency and co-operation. The following adult members have passed the recent annual re-exami-nation in first-aid: — L. A. Edlin, R. McDonald, R. A. How, H. D. Franklin, J. Rimmer, R. Young, S. Kilfoid, A. Reading. The following adult members have passed the annual re-examination in first-aid and home nursing: Miss D. Willis, Mrs A. Kennedy, Mrs J. Gale, Mrs I. Frost, Mrs L. Edlin, Mrs B. Dutfield, Miss F. Dent, Mrs T. Coley, Mrs A. A. Booth, Mrs J. E. Booth. Dr D. A. Richards was examiner in First Aid, and Miss T. M. McMillan, District Nurse, in home nursing. The Taupo Ambulance made 8 trips in September, 5 medical and 3 accident, involving 1026 miles and 41£ hours of duty.
