KINDY KAPERS CONCERT

The Taupo Free Kindergarten Association's "Kindy Kapers," presented to a good house in the War Memorial Hall on Tuesday evening, September 27, was an excellent concert programme of local talent supported by Ihe popular Reporoa Revellers, and the Logan Trio, of Mangakino. Among the most attractive items were dances from "The Enchanted Waltz" performed by Misses Jacqueline Fooks, Harriet Rewa and Roseanne Redwood, under the aegis oi Mrs Eunice Birnie, with Mrs Sherwood at the piano, and vocal accompaniment by Misses June Schinidt and June Armstrong. Mr Clem Currie entertained with harmonica medleys and the Logan Trio with guitar items, and song accompaniments for Miss Oathie Pitiroi ; Miss June Armstrong with a pianoforte solo ; while songs were sung by Mrs Alec McGregor, Yvonne Sharp, Audrey Patchett, Denis Rameka, Jack McCarthy (of the Reporoa Revellers) and his daughter, Margaret McCarthy. The Reporoa Revellers presented two popular vocal brackets, includ-' ing four negro songs in costume, and paid tribute to Mr Bill Dolman, who deputised at the piano in the absence of their musical director. Two items which brought the house down were a sketch, "If Men Played Bridge Like Women Do," performed by Trevor Cato, Ron Bjorngaard, John Corry and Bill Lemberg, and a humorous male ballet, produced by Mrs Birnie, accompanied by Miss June Armstrong, and danced by Bill Davies, Stuart Miller, Bill Lemberg, Clarrie Stevens, Norman Lowe and Tony Waldron. Among those taking part in several skits were the cast of the sketch, David Woodward, Denis Rameka, and the Reporoa Revellers. Miss June Schmidt gave a convincing monologue, Stan Kapua and Len Lee, after opening the programme with a guitar and song number, filled in the odS curtains with lively antics. Mrs J. M. Sherwood, Miss June Armstrong and Mr W. Dolman shared the accompaniments. Production was in the hands of Denis Rameka, assisted by Bill Lemberg, Norman Lowe, Charles Leslie and others, who are to be congratulated on their success.
