OCTOBER - JUNE FISHING SEASON FOR TAUPO
Regulations gazetted last week provide that in future the Taupo trout fishing season is to open on October 1 and close on June 30. The current experimental winter fishing season is to be the last. Whole-season licences are abolished, and a new scale of fees does away with the former special rates for overseas visitors and residents of the Taupo Fishery District. The use of natural or artificial minnows as lures is prohibited. Monthly licences for men are to cost £1, provided that when an angler has paid for three such licences he may obtain subsequent monthly licences during the season for ls each. Weekly licences remain at 10s each The first three licences for women, and boys under 17, will cost 10s each, and further licences ls each. Day licences are reduced from 3s 6d to 2s 6d per day. The. prohibition of trolling is now confined to areas within a 300-yard radius from the confluence of rivers with the Lake. Marks signposting prohibited areas will be black and orange. The abolition of the former higher and lower rates for licences, for overseas anglers and residents of the district, respectively, had been advocated by angling representatives at annual conferences between clubs and (1 ep a r tm enta 1 officers.
