TE RIMU C.W.I.

The monthly meeting of the Te Rimu Countrywomen's Institute was held at Fletcher's Mill at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7. The president, Mrs. K. O'Keefe, welcomed members and two visitors, Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Schon. A splendid demonstration of making a flax kit given by Mrs. S. Peihopa was greatly enjoyed * and appreciated. The kit was later raffled. The competitions were keenly contested and resulted as follow: — Shortbread, Mrs. S. Jordon 1, Mrs. M. Ham 2, Mrs. K. O'Keefe 3; best child's toy made from old socks, Mrs. A. Wall 1, Mrs. T. Heta 2, Mrs. S. Peihopa 3. The snowball. was well rolled around and was won by Mrs. M. Pitiroi. The president presented the demonstrator, Mrs. Pitiroi, the judge* Mrs. Schon, and the birthday member, Mrs. F. Harris, with attractive bunches of violets. The hostesses provided an amusing questions-answers competition which was eventually won by Mrs. Jordon. Supper was served, after which the saies table c'iaimed full attention, a most enjoyable evening being brought to a close with the National Anthem.
