TAUREWA WELFARE LEAGUE
The monthly meetiug of the Taurewa Mauri Women's AYelfare League was held in the Ketetahi Hall, Mrs M. Hepi presiding. Mrs P. Kereopa opened tlie meeting witli the Mauri Rosary. An apology for absence was received froni Mrs White, of Kapoor's Mill. - Amongst many iteius of business discussed was the helping of the Mauri Oollege appeal for linauce, and aJso the helping of a European girl ( to obtain secondary education and board. A beautiful toilet compaetum was shown to the gathering and is to be sent as a gift to a local resident, Mr N. Ilerkt, now a patient in Middlemore Ilospital, wiio has been ora; of many stauncli suppnrters oi' tlie League. A farewell presentation of a tableclotli was made to Mrs P. Kereopa wlio has let't. the district. Mesdames Hepi, Pliillips, Manunui, Herkt, Turanga and Ruhe spoke,# and Mrs Kereopa replied. A new member, Mrs E. H. Burton, was enrolled. Mrs N. R. Moana was competitlon judge. Messrs Turanga and Manunui, and a number of local boys, were present as observers. Mrs Moses and Mrs Herkt wero hostesses. Competition resulls: Sewing, Mesdames Manunui, Herkt, Moses; cookinf, Mrs Herkt, Mrs Burton, Mrs Moses; Mauri arts and crai'ts, Mrs Manunui, Mrs Moses, Mrs Herkt ; modern arts and crai'ts, Mrs Manunui, Mrs Ruhe, Mrs Turanga : health. Mrs Thompson, Mrs Herkt, Mrs Moses; horticultural, Mrs Thompson, Mrs Moses, Mrs Turanga; Mauri arts and crafts, Mrs Manunui, Mrs Moses, Mrs Herkt.
