ROSS SHIELD REP TEAM AND PRIMARY SCHOOLS BASKETBALL REPS

The Rugby team to represent the Taupo District Primary Schools in the Ross Shield competition in Hawkes Bay is to play the Rotorua District Primary Schools representative team in Rotorua tomorrow, Saturday. The Taupo girls' representative Basketball team *will play the Rotorua reps, also in Rotorua*' tomorrow. During the week the Rugby reps have all been attending the Taupo School, to enable them to be together for training. They have had the advantage during the week of coaching instruction from ex-All Black Mr Ces Badely. Mr A. Airey, of Taupo School staff, who will be manager and coach for tlie Rotorua trip, and for the later visit to Hawkes Bay, states that thanks are due to the Taupo people who have kindly billetted the boys from the outlying centres. The Ross Shield rep team is as follows : — Fullback, George Kumeroa (Mokai) ; Wingers, Puis Tai (Tokaanu), Ted Ngamotu (Taupo) ; Centre Douglas Biddle (Tauranga-taupo) ; Second five-eighths, Ivan Rangi (Oruanui) ; first five-eighths, Max Loughlin (Taupo) ; Halfback, Monty Pitiroi (Tauranga-taupo) ; Backrow, Sonny Downs (Tauranga-taupo) ; breakaways, Mutu Samuels (Taupo), John Church (Tokaanu) ; Locks, Koro Reihana (Tokaanu), Herbie Habib (Taupo) ; Hooker, Jim Williams (Oruanui) ; Props, Koro Rotarangi (Mokai), Ian Trethowen (Taupo). Four spares for the team will be chosen from the following: — Kahu Pitiroi, Bill Hall, Victor Hall, Don Hay, Merv Hay (Oruanui); John Knowles (Maroa) ; Boydy Smallman (Tokaanu); Hendon Gillies (Taupo).
