This picture shows the new A.C. Baths building, recently erected on the site of the original baths. The latter were first used by men of the Armed Constabulary stationed in Taupo in the seventies and eighties of last century. The present baths were financed by a loan of £5,000 raised by the Borough Council, with a further grant of £1,000 from the Government. In its capacity as the Taupo Domain Board the Council plans to construct an open-air warm swimming bath on the levelled area shown in the left fore-ground above. The water of the A.C. spring below the present bath buildings has been piped underground in concrete pipes so that the former stream does not show in the picture. —(Gillies Smith, Photgraph.)
