POPULAR A.C. BATHS
Reporting to the recent meeting of the Borough Council Mr C- Jacoby, caretaker, A.C. Baths, stated that the new baths had been open to the public for six months, namely, from December 17 to June 14, and that a. summary of attendances over this period might possibly be of assistance to the Council in framing policy for future development of the area. During the. period 27,197 tickets had been sold at 9d, 713 at 7s 6d, and 187 at 5s, making a total of 37,997 admissions. In addition, 168 tickets had been sold at 24s and 41 at 16s, representing 11,932 baths, of which -it was estimated that at least 50 per cent. had been used up. This meant that admissions to the baths for the six months had totalled 43,513, excluding season ticket hold-
ers. While December and January might be considered peak periods, stated Mr Jacoby 's report, it was of interest that the flow of people using the baths had remamed remarkably steady. This was shown by comparison of the total saies of tickets per month. The figures showed the popiilarity of the baths, and would justify the addition of the open pool at present under construction and tlie general improvement of the surrounding area. It would appear that if these coiild be completed by December next the reVenue from the baths would go a long way towards meeting construction costs," particularly bearing in mind the large number of people who at present titrned away on • seeing others waitiiig for admission. f • . .
