GARDENING CIRCLE
The June meeting of the Gardening Circle of the Taupo Countrywomen's Institute was held on Wednesday, June 8, at Mrs F. Bostock's home, when there was an attendance of 17 members despite very wintry condi: tions. Rooms were nicely decorated with Callicarpa and Lymphoricarpus berries, and flowers of Banksia ericaefolia. The latter shrub, now in full bloom, provides food for the birds when other flowers are so scarce. Mrs Smyrk gave a very interesting demonstration on floral decorated plates. Lily bulbs, seedlings, and lily and Helleborus seeds, that had been bought from funds, were distributed amongst " members. Other -plants and seedlings were also distributed. As Mrs Bostock's garden was a new one each member had brought a plant for it-
