MARGARET SWEENEY HAS WINTER SWIM IN LAKE
Miss Margaret Sweeney, wellknown in Taupo for her swim from near Tokaanu to Taupo last January, visited Taupo last week-end, and while here did a two and a half mile training swim in the Lake. The water temperature was from 53 to -54 degrees. Miss Sweeney has begun training for the annual international English C-hannel race in August. On Saturday, June 25, a dance is to be held in the War Memorial Hall, to raise funds to go towards Miss Sweeney's travelling expenses to England- It is being organis.ed by the members of the Borough Council office and administrative staff, to , whom any offers of assistance will be welcome.
