CONTRACT LET FOR TWO COUNCIL HOUSES
Tenders From £5140 To £6380 A special meeting of the Borough Council was held on Monday, May 30, to consider tenders received for the the erection of two houses in Rifle Range Road, the Mayor, Mr J. E. Story, presiding. Councillors present were Crs K. O. Lewis, J. E. Barton, C. S. Currie, W. G. Morris and K. E. Young. Apologies were received from Crs C. J. Vedder and J. M, Stanley. Cr J. D. Swan was absent on leave. Mr A. L. Gabites, architect and Town Planning consultant, was in attendance. Four tenders were received, and after consider ation Cr Young moved, seconded by Cr Lewis, that the tender of Mr E. Darlington, at £5140 be accepted, and that Mr Gabites be instructed to finalise the matter with Mr Darlington. The*motion was carried. The remaining tenders ranged from £5355 to £6380. Mr Gabites was also authorised to call tenders for the putting down of a water supply bore, and for the electrical wiring of the houses.
