K.O. LEWIS BASKETBALL
The first three K. O. Lewis Cup matches were played on Saturday, May 7. Taupo High School defeated Waipahihi by 19 — 3 in a match refereed by J. Habib, Spa beat Stuarts 14 — 11, and College Old Girls won 17 — 7 against Mokai, in games controlled by S. George. For High School Elaine Darlington scored 10 of the team's points and Sylvia Booth 9. Spa, and Stuarts, a new team organisecl and captained by Joyce Habib, played a bright elosely-fought match. The Stuarts captain played well in centre, and Ria Erskme, a new1 comer, was outstanding in goal. Snowdrop Wall goaled extremely well for Spa, while both Mihi Tupara (centre) and Dorothy Harding (defence) impressed. The C.O.G.- — Mokai match was a good one but spoilt for Mokai by inaccurate shooting. Polly Maniapoto scored all C.O.G.'s goals, while Francis Harris (centre) and Chris Waihape (defence) were outstanding.
