TAUPO-NUI-A-TIA'S ROLL OF HONOUR
The number of returned servicemen and servicevvomen attending the Anzac Day Service, at the Taupo-nui-a-Tia War Memorial Hall on Anzac Day, was larger than at any previousj Anzac Day commemoration in Taupo. Their presence was a trib-j ute to the memory of men from the scattered settlements of j Taupo-nui-a-Tia, the Taupo Country, who gave their lives in thej First and Second World Wars. Including those who marched in the Returned Services As-j sociation detachment, the 40 returned men in the Legion ofl Frontiersmen's detachment, a number of returned men preseittl in the congregation, and the Rev. H. Tangohau, who took partinl the service, there were not less than 86 returned men and women J present. I The Roll of Honour itself has been recorded on a bronze tab-J let, affixed to the northem wall of the front entrance porch ofl the Memorial Hall, on the right as one mounts the Hall steps. It bears the names of 10 men who were killed in action, orl died of wounds on active service, in the First World War, and ofl 28 men who made the same sacrifice in the Second World War.| The names are given below. T. Wharepapa. Second World War: — Pte. I. Black; Pte. N. Coley; w Cpl. T. Duncan, M.M. ; Pte. W. Duff ; Cpl W. H. T. Grace; Pte. G. Graham ; Pte. P. Ham; Pte. H. Hepi; Capt. R. Mariu ; Pte. R.
