TAUREWA WOMEN'S WELFARE LEAGUE
- There was. .a large gathering at the March meetings of the Taurewa Maori Women's Welfare League, presfded over by Mrs M. Hepi. The openlng prayer was led by M.rs N. R. Moana. Greetings were extended to mombers and observers, and congratulations to Mr and Mrs G. Manunui on the success of their daughter, Georgina, in winning the Ngarimu V. C. Scholarship Essay competition. A telegram of congratulatipn was read from the Minister of Education, the Hon. R. M, Algie. A very satisfactory school report was presented by the Headmistress of the Taurewa School.
New members enrolied were Mrs A. McKenzie and Mrs R. Paurini. Observers' were Mesdames W. Kuru, Mulligan, M. Konui; Mess^s T. Hepi, K. Hepi, W. Kuru, W. Pakau, N. R. Moana. Hostesses, Mesdames Manunui and Pakau. Placings in competitluns were as follows: — Sewing, petticoat rrom a , flour- | bag, Mrs Thompson, Mrs Manunui, Mrs Ruhe. Cooking, Mrs Herkt, Mrs Manunui, Mrs Turanga. Maori Arts and Crafts, Mrs Manunui, Mrs White, > Mrs Ruhe. Modern Arts and Crafts, Mrs Kereopa, Mrs Thompson 'Mrs White. Horticultural, Mrs Manunui, Mrs Pakau, Mrs Thompson. Health,— Mrs White, Mrs Pakau, Mrs Manunui.
