CRICKET NOTES
The Taupo Cricket Club gained ii comfortable 10 wickets victory on the first ifinings over Tihoi last weekend, at the Tihoi Mill ground, the winning hit being made off the last b'all before rain ,stopped play for the day. / In his first game for the Club, Dr. West took a wficket in eaeh of his first. two ovdrs but Iv.vhne and Deane then added 35 runs and took the Tihoi score to 53. It was Dickson who broke the partnership by bowling Lynne for 35. Deane could not flnd a partner to stay with him againsf the bowling of Dickson and Sam McKean, only Whare of the remaining batsmen reaching^ double figures. Deane himself had a hit in an endeavou r to score quick runs and wasnintb out for 34 and Ihe innings v closed for 1)7. Ward and Kennedy opened for Taupo, the former wasting nv, time in running to 55, out.of S0, niaiidy with strong driving. Kennedy then b^gan to catch up, and- hit a six and a four in the last over to give Taupo the lead.
