A view of the western corner of Whanganui Bay, western shore of Lake Taupo, taken from the cliff-top east of the Bay. The shore line from Whanganui to Waihora consists of a ten mile continuation of cliffs shown in the picture, broken only by the sandy beach at Waihaha, where the well-known fishing stream of that name enters the Lake. Seen at close quarters from a boat the cliffs, with their varying columnar structure, their crowding growth of ferns and bush, form in this western portion of the Lake one of the most beautiful scenic attractions of the whole Taupo Country.
