GOLF SEASON CLOSES

PRE SENTATION OF PRIZE S The Taupo Golf Club's 1954 season was closed on Saturday, November 6, with a Mixed Fourball bogey and a men's Fourball bogey. The former was won by E. Irving and Miss Branson, 4 up, and the latter by V. Wilson and G. Marlow, 2 up. This was rumoured to be Marlow's first success sine 1929. The closing day of the Ladies' Golf Club was held on the previous Thursday, when a Stableford bogey was played. It was won by Mrs Foote, 36 points, other scores being Mrs L. E. Pearse 33, Mrs McIsaac 32, Mrs A. Graham 30. Following play on Saturday, the President, Mr L. H. Cheal, thanked Club officers and committee members for the efficient way in which they had carried out their duties during the season. He also thanked the ladies for the services they had rendered to the Club as aj whole throughout the season. Mr Cheal then called on Mrs Cheal to present the prizes, which were as follows: Prize List Closing day competitions, Mixed Fourball bogey, E. Irving and Miss Branson; Men's Fourball bogey, V. Wilson and G. Marlow (trophies presented by Messrs Henry Williams and sons). Ladies' Championship, Miss Branson; runner up, Mrs Colbeck. Men's Championship, A. L. Graham; runner up, D. Neame. Ladies' Junior Flight, Mrs Logan; runner up, Mrs A. L. Graham, trophy presented by Mrs Logan. Men's Junior Championship, E. Irving; runner up, J. Hurrell. Patron's Trophy, E. M. Smith and Miss Branson. L.G.U. Medal, senior, Mrs Hullten; junior, Mrs Watson. President's Trophy, D. Neame. Ladies' Tauhara Cup, Mesdames Young and Watson. Men's Tauhara Cup, D. Neame and E.
