NATIONAL CANDIDATE OPENS CAMPAIGN

VISIT TO TOKOROA The National Party candidate for the new Rotorua Electorate, which includes Taupo, Mr P. B. Allen, began his campaign with a recent visit to Tokoroa. Accompanied by Mrs Allen, the party spent some two hours at Kinleith, and in the evening attended a ball marking the opening of a carnival to raise money for a new sports ground. .

A returned serviceman of World War II, Mr AUen had a distinguished war record, was Wounded at E1 Alamein, saw service in Italy and returned with field rank. He was five years president of the Rotorua R.S.A., and for seven years served on the Rehabilitation and Land Settlement Committees. He is a member of the Rotorua Borough Council.
