CONVENT SCHOOL SITE
TOWN PLAN OBJECTION Among objections to the Borough Council's Town P'lanning scheme heard by the Council on Thursday, September 23, was one by the Rt. Rev. J. M. Liston, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland. The Rev. Father J. deBree, appearing for Bishop Liston, explained that Sections 1, 2 and 10, Blk 21, including the site of St. Patrick's Church, were shown as part of the service industrial area. If this area were to be zoned in that way it was feared that that might prohibit the erection there of a private Catholic convent school. The objection was lodged in the hope that no difflculty of that sort would arise when the need arose to build such^a school on the site. Replying to a question from the Chairman, Father deBree said he would have no further objection if the Council agreed to have a School site placed on the map for the area mentioned as had tc:n d:ne in the
case of other school sites. The objection was only to enable th.e area to be reservqd for a future school site. Decision was reserved.
