TAUPO DAFFODILS WIN PRIZES

Taupo gardeners who showed daffodils at outside shows recently won several prizes. At the Tauranga Hortieultural Society's Daffodil Show on Wednesday, September 15, Mr L. Stephenson was awarded.second prize in the Open class for three seedlings. At the Putaruru Daffodil Club's Show on Thursday, September 16, Mr G. F. Colbeck won the Constance Russell Certificate for six blooms, any section. Mr Colbeck won the Champion Bloom in the small cups with Varna (Div. 3B), red cup and yellow perianth. In the Novice Class at Putaruru Miss Sonia Beale got three first, three seconds and won the Points Prize. In the Decorative Class Mrs H. B. Peart won first prize with a decorative log of polyanthus, which were from the well-known strain intrdduced to Taupo from America some time ago by Mr N. A. Duthie. Miss Sonia Beale won the prize in the Decorative Class for a presentation box of flowers.
