INTRUDER IN HOTEL STAFF QUARTERS
, In the Magistrate's Court, Taupo, on Saturday last, Junior Hona Grant, aged 18, was charged before Messrs A. H. Reid and J. E. Story, Justices of the Peace, with being on enclosed premises without lawful excuse, but not so as to disclose the intention to commit any other offence. Defendant pleaded guilty. The case for the prosecution was that Mr J. W. Birnie, licensee of the Spa Hotel, had found defendant asleep on Saturday morning in a bed in the staff* quarters. Defendant had spent tjie night there. Defendant had been taken to the Police Station by the licensee and charged. He was convicted and fined £5.
