ROTORUA PRIMARY SCHOOL REPS. PLAY TAUPO
The represntative Primary School Rugby match at Taupo last Saturday between Rotorua and Taupo resulted in a win for the visitors by 14 — 3. Some good play was seen, and the Taupo team did well considering that its members had not previously played together. For Rotorua, Skelton scored 7 _ V two tries, converted one, and kicked a penalty goal, to make the half-time score 11 — nil. Soon after resumptlon Garmonsway (Oruanui) scored Taupo's only try. He intercepted a pass from Rotorua's second five-eighths to the centre, just outside the twen-ty-five, and raced for the line to go over in fine style. Later Twyman went across for Rotorua to make the final score 14 — 3. The Taupo team, chosen from the 19 players selected to represent the Taupo Schools, in the Ross Shield contest in Hawke's Bay during the coming term holidays, was as follows: — Fullback, J. Peck (Maroa) ; Three-quarters, G. Livesey and S. Crowther (Taupo), S. Garmonsway (Oruanui); Five-eighths, P. Ngamotu, D. Marama (Waitahanui) ; Half, Max Loughlin (Taupo) ; Forwards, T. Pitiroi (Tauranga-taupo), R. Reading and S. Rutene (Taupo), Kirikau (Maroa), Maniapoto (Waitahanui), K. Hurae (Taupo, J. Williams (Oruanui), H. Northcroft (Waitahanui). Two weaknesses in the Taupo team, which will no doubt be corrected before the team goes to Hawke's Bay, were bad tackling, and the backs not going down on the ball. Mr J. W. Woodward refereed.
