Water Supply Scheme.
At a special meeting of the Borough Council on Monday, August 2, Mr Lloyd Mandeno, consulting engineer, outlined propolsals with regard to a water supply for the Borough. The increases in costs of such public works over recent years is indicated by the fact that whereas the estimated cost of a water scheme for Taupo in 1947 was £45,000, the cost of the scheme today was estimated to be not less than £80,000. A resolution, moved by Cr J. D. Swan and seconded by Cr J. M. Stanley, was adopted, authorising Mr Mandeno to go ahead with plans based on his outline.
