BASKETBALL NOTES

The Taupo Basketball Committee have now decided to send a Taupo Representative team to the N.Z Third Grade Championship, and Mesdames Harnett, Stewart and Laughton have been nominated as selectors. It has also been decided to issue challenges, on behalf of the Basketball girls, to the Taupo football teams and the Businessmen, to play a number of matches on the Domain on June 20, the winning team to receive a trophy. Huka played High School at the School Courts on Saturday, June 5, High School winning 16 — 9. These younger players demonstrated the value of team work compared with individualist play, and are to be congratulated in that no player was unduly prominent. K. Garlick, for Huka, goaled exceptionally well. Tomorrow, Saturday, June 12, Primary play High School at .1.45 p.m., referee Mrs Hunter, and Mokai play Huka at 3 p.m., referee S. George.

The Committee extend congratulations to Mokai for a well turned out team. Each Saturday these girls appear neatly dressed as a team, and other clubs, are urged to attend to the matter of uniform as soon as possible.
