DRAMATIC SOCIETY'S OPENING EVENING
There was a good attendance at the Taupo Dramatic Society's opening evening on Wednesday, April 14. The programme commenced with 'rFond Farewell," a one-act play by Norman Holland, presented as a radio play. The equipment used combined radiogramophone, microphone, loud[speaker and sound effects gadgets, I constructed for the Society by Mr Charlei^ Leslie. The parts were taken by Sally Kent, Shirley Laughton, Mary Kruit and Charles Leslie, with Mr and Mrs J. W. Birnie as the listeners. Other items included three Scottish songs sung by Dr. Jean West, with Dr. Roy West as accompanist, "This Is No My Plaid," "Linten Lowrim," and I Gin I Were Where The Gowdie Rins." Two humourous songs, "The Hole In The Bucket," and "The Humour Is On Me Now," were rendered in costume by John Kellett and Tom Curham. The final item was a sketch with a humourous twist presented by Vera Casson, Wally Fulfor and Bill Rogers.
