BLUE-GUMS ON LAKE FRONT

In his report to the Borough Council's recent meeting the Borough Foreman, Mr G. W. Amer, referred to the blue-gum trees on the Lake front opposite the Domain, mentioning that they were loosening the pumice cliff near-by, and suggesting that they be cut down to a height of say eight feet. The Mayor stated that this suggestion no doubt had in mind that if such a course were adopted the trees would send out vigorous new growth. Cr. Young thought that, in view of the trees being such an °ld established' feature of that part of the Lake front, nothing should be done until the Works Committee had made an inspection. It was decided that no action be taken until this had been done.
