COMPETITION PLAY An L.G.U. medal round and the hrst round of the Forster Trophy were played by the ladies on Thursday, April 15. Mrs K. E. Young returned a 92-22-70, thus reducing her handicap to 21. Next best scores were Mrs Colbeck, 92-17-75, Miss McKelvie 94-19-75, Mrs Hullten 89-12-77. The best returns from Saturday players were Mrs Neame 98-23-75, and Mrs Irving 109-32-77. The course was very popular during the week-end and there was a good entry for the Fourball Stableford on the Saturday, won by E. Pearse and D. Stretton with 42 points. Scoring on the whole was excellent and three pairs returned 39 points for second place. Despite very wet conditions on Sunday there were 16 entries for the Mixed Foursome Bogey. Though the weather deteriorated as the afternoon progressed more than half the players completed the round. Winners were Mrs Irvine and M. Brittain three down on bogey, with Mrs Young and M. Waddell 6 down, and Mr and Mrs Moss 7 down. The warm wet weather has been ideal for the newly sown fairways and the grass is coming away well indeed. On Thursday, April 22, the ladies will play a bogey match and on Saturday, April 24, the1 men will play the first round of the President's Trophy.
