TOWN PLAN MEETING
TO BE CALLED BY COUNCIL A deputation from the Businessmen's Association, consisting of Messrs. I. T. Logan and M. L. Svensen, suggested to the Borough Couneil at their meeting on Thursday, March 25, that a public meeting might be called to discuss the Town Planning Scheme. The depution stated that the Association had considered the matter and thought that such a meeting would enable various points to be explained. Mr Logan said it had been suggested that either the Association or the Couneil might call such a meeting. Mr Svensen mentioned that it was possible that explanation at such a meeting, of matters that enquirers might be doubtful about might reduce the number of objections to be dealt with later, for after hearing explanations some possible objectors might not wish to proceed with objections. Cr. K. E. Young thought that such a meeting should be called by the Couneil, if one were to be held with which Mr Logan agreed. The Mayor thought it ai good idea, particularly in view of the public interest indicated by the deputation. Councillors expressed general agreement. In discussion of probable dates it was thought inadvisable to hold the meeting during the Easter holiday period, and it was decided that it be called for April 26, leaving several days available before the time for lodging obections closed on Aprii 30.
