HIGH SCHOOL WANTED AT TOKAANU

MEETING AT HIRANGI A large and representative meeting was held at Hirangi, Tokaanu, on Wednesday, February 10, to discuss with Mr A. O.. Golding, Inspector of Maori Schools, the need for the establishment of a District High School in the South Taupo district. After Mr Golding had spoken, many availed themselves of the opportunity to question him closely on the matter. After a lengthy discussion the meeting unanimously voted in favour of the establishment of a District High School. In the meantime, if there are sufficient pupils, a Form III will be established immediately at Taurang-taupo, where there is a spare room available. So far eight pupils have decided to enrol and there are four probable pupils. This is considered a very promising beginning.
